Sunshine is Coming…

Winter Blues? New Year Slump? Lack of sunshine?

Call it whatever you want, but this time of year always gets me feeling meh. All the cozy, warm holidays are behind us….yet, the warmth of Summer nights and beach trips aren’t quite close enough.

Just a few weeks ago, I was making big New Year goals full of excitement and positivity. But here I find myself at the end of March fighting the slump.

I HATE feeling blah. So, I am sharing some of the ways I fight the slump and try to stay motivated, happy, and feeling my best.

  1. Mindset. When I wake up thinking, “I am so tired” or “I am so not feeling this day,” it results in have a terrible day. So, I literally wrote this quote on a sticky note and read it to myself every. single. morning. “I radiate confidence and positivity!” Let your mind tell your body how it feels, not the other way around. I have pinned some of my favorite positive quotes, here!
  2. Personal Development. It sounds super, cheesy…or maybe super, obvious if you’re into PD. While I was pregnant, I fell in love with personal development books. There are some really great, life changing books out there. Yes, that sounds cliché, but it’s true. If you’re rolling your eyes, it’s okay. I get it. I used to do the same thing, I don’t know if I thought I was above personal development books or if I thought they were a scam. But as I write that I cringe, because now I am the biggest fan. If you’re a novicepersonal-development-reader (yes, I just made that a thing), start small. I have a board on Pinterest of some of my favorite quotes from some of my favorite authors, you can find here. If you are like me and don’t have a lot of extra time to actually read, I highly recommend Audible. You can listen to audio books before bed, in the car, or while you workout. It’s like itunes for books, you can try for free here! OR there are a ton of free podcasts that focus on personal development, as well.
  3. Move your body. Go for a walk. Go to the gym. Find a home workout you like. Just move. Elle Woods knew what she was talking about when she said, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.” It doesn’t have to be super intense, you don’t even have to know what you’re doing. Turn on some music and dance around your house, seriously..it’s the cheapest therapy you’ll find. Even better, bundle up and get outside and go for a walk…cold sunshine is better than no sunshine.
  4. DETOX. Detox from the tv, junk food, sitting on the couch. When I feel myself getting in a slump, it’s normally after a weekend of eating junk, not drinking enough water, and lack of sleep. I know what to do to make myself feel better, but sometimes in that slump making the first move is hard. So, I start with baby steps. I’ll drink more water. Seriously, water is the cure to everything…just ask any mom. I force myself to turn the TV off at 10pm. Late night Netflix’ing results in late night snacking and exhaustion. Binge watching Netflix is awesome, once in awhile…but if I let myself do it every single night, I am tired, lazy, grouchy, basically I am not the best version of myself, not even a little bit. When I go off the rails with junk food, I always do a simple, gentle Detox. I’ve talked about it plenty of times so I won’t rant again, but if you’re interested in the deets check here. This DETOX helps me get back on track focused on my health, boosts my natural energy, and clears my digestive tract of the junk. Your “detox” may look different, maybe you go into an online shopping spree or an endless candy crush tournament. So my advice is find the things that weight you down in a slump, and detox!
  5. Change it up. Change your routine. I can’t get out of my slumps when I stick in the same routine. Sometimes that means getting out of the house and doing something fun with Benjamin. Sometimes just changing my normal radio station or podcast can work. If we don’t like where we are at (insert middle of a slump), change it!
  6. Treat Yourself. What would make you feel good? For me, a new pair of leggings, a walk around Target with a vanilla latte or a pedicure. Yep, any of those

would do the trick. I’m not saying to go drown your sorrows with retail therapy. But sometimes a latte and a little you time are all it takes. Check out some of my Amazon Favorites here, including my fave leggings that feel Lululemon soft without the steep price! I am also obsessed with this brand, Rad Vibes Only, that offers apparel with positive, fun sayings! You gotta check them out! You can use the discount count ColdCoffeeGrind for 10% off your order! You’re welcome!

7. Talk about free therapy. As cheesy as it may sound, journaling is therapeutic. There’s so many types of journaling, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to sit down as your 10 year old self and document the dramatics of your day. I mean you totally can, and I know a lot of people who thrive for that. For me, I love bible journaling, it’s like coloring for adults. I also found a morning affirmation journal to be helpful, each day I list 5 things I am thankful for and 5 affirmations. I’ll share with you my example for today’s entry, it doesn’t have to be super serious, but I think it’s a positive way to start the morning.

    1. THANKFUL
      1. I am thankful for the sunshine.
      2. I am thankful for a warm car to get Benjamin to and from school.
      3. I am thankful for coffee.
      4. I am thankful for Benjamin’s 3429382 different laughs
      5. I am thankful for audiobooks.
    2. AFFIRMATIONS
      1. I am strong.
      2. I am calm, happy, and at peace.
      3. I am a great mom.
      4. I choose to not criticize myself or others around me.
      5. I am doing my best and that is enough.

These are the ways I work myself out of slump. I would love to hear what helps you fight the Winter blues and stay happy! Comment below with what works for you a#nd remember, sunshine is coming! #allthepraisehands

It always sounds easier than the effort it actually takes, but the first step for me is making the decision the feel better!

Until next time!

Brittany

Apple Cider Vinegar Detox

I’m sure you’ve seen all the hype on Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother and the health benefits it can provide. While I have been a big believer of drinking 2 tablespoons of ACV daily, I decided to change things up a few months ago and I wanted to share my Detox_16ozexperience!

Since White House Foods® came out with their Detox drink, it has been a game changer for me. The Detox is a “ready-to-drink” mix of Organic ACV with mother, lemon, cinnamon, and honey. Each month, I do a “detox week” which consists of 1 bottle per day for 7 days. I drink half of the bottle in the morning as soon as I wake up and the other half in the evening before bed. When I am not detoxing, I continue with two tablespoons of Organic ACV per day.

Why I LOVE this detox?

  • Digestion issues – no more! Even after a weekend of eating junk or a vacation, a detox will totally straighten out my system and keep me regular!
  • I sleep like a baby, not an actual baby… I actually sleep sound, which was next to impossible after having my son.
  • ENERGY. Gosh, so much natural energy. I just realized I haven’t had coffee yet, it’s 2 p.m. on a detox day!
  • Bloat, be gone. I am not kidding when I say I have had major digestion issues which have always led to crazy bloat. Detoxing once a month has played a major role in healing my digestive issues and reducing bloat. #amen
  • Skin. I always thought acne was something that just went away with your awkward stage. Apparently I was wrong about both, acne and awkward stages never actually leave you. The Detox seems to help keep my breakouts to a minimum, which is an added bonus because I never expected my skin to be affected but I will gladly take it!

I have always been a firm believer in the magical powers (a little dramatic there) of Organic ACV, but I am even more passionate about the White House Foods® Detox !

If you’re interested in trying the Detox, it can be purchased online (click here), Wal-Mart, Martin’s, Food Lion, and many other locations. If you need some help finding it near you, comment below. I’m happy to help!

Looking for a little extra support & accountability to complete a DETOX? I hold monthly 7 Day DETOX Groups online! It’s SO fun to do a DETOX together, stay accountable, & share the experience with others. The group is TOTALLY free, all you need is 7 bottles of White House Detox! If you’d like more info or you’re interested in the next group. Click HERE, and fill out the form!

As always, thanks for reading!

9 Must-Have Items For 2019!

How are we already at the beginning of another NEW year?

If you’re like me, you start each year with good intentions of cleaning, organizing, and setting fitness goals but somewhere between January and late March….. the passion for those goals starts to fade.

This year, I am choosing to start small and work on GROWTH instead of starting BIG and feeling like I failed when it all becomes too overwhelming.

Here are some of my favorite things that inspire me to stick with my goals! Click in underlined word for a direct shopping link!

9MustHaveItems

  1.  New Shoes: New shoes = workout definitely happening! Invest in some great shoes that feel and look good. Seems a little silly, but I promise it works. These shoes are worth every penny, they’re adorable, and skip the annoying shoe strings that no one actually has time for anyways!
  2. Water Bottle: Drinking more water is something I always need to strive to do. Water is SO good for you and is an easy way to start a healthier year. I love this encouraging water jug!
  3. Planner: I am OBSESSED with this planner, because it covers a few of my resolutions in ONE. This is a weekly planner, devotion/bible study notebook, and health tracker.
  4. Detox: When it comes to “diets,” I have to be realistic. A “diet” will never work for me, but a lifestyle of healthier choices is totally DOABLE. This little bottle of magic has helped keep in line so I have to share. One week per month, I commit to drinking a bottle of this a day.
  5. Sports Bras: When is the last time your purchased yourself a NEW bra? I had to add this one because I went to put on a sports bra and it was a nursing bra…it was also 2 sizes too big. Ladies, treat yourself. Your children get new clothes every season, you deserve it. Also, it’s not good for you to be wearing the wrong size bra…especially when you’re working out. #keepingitreal
  6. Car Organizer: If you’re a mom, there’s really not much to say here. You get it. War zone, danger zone, black hole….or as other people call it, the backseat. My dad got these for me for Christmas and so far, so good. I figured I should return the favor and help a sister out. Get these and get your sanity back!
  7. Daily Devotional: Speaking of sanity, make time for a daily devotion. You won’t regret it. You don’t have to commit to reading an entire chapter of the bible every single day, start small. I’ve linked one that I think can be life changing.
  8. Crockpot: I’m making it my goal this year to have a few less trips through the Chickfila drive-thru and a few more sit-down dinners. Confession, cooking dinner seems exhausting after a long day and I am SO quick to talk myself out of it. This year, I am going to depend on my crockpot a lot more. I plan on putting dinner in the crockpot in the morning so in the evening it’s not easier to pick up a chicken sandwich and waffles fries.
  9. Tupperware: Stop letting that pile of mix matched Tupperware with missing lids drive you crazy. Throw it ALL out. It’s not going to bully you and make you feel like everything is falling apart one more day. Trash it. Start fresh.

Goals are made to be met.

Goals are made to grow you…not overwhelm you.

Start small, conquer, and set out for another goal.

If you use any of these items, please comment below and tell me how they’re helping you slide into 2019 feeling like a million bucks.

Daily Dose: Fitness Items

Hi, friends!

This week’s daily dose was inspired by one of my love/hate relationships….fitness.

I know I’m not the only one. I hate everything leading up to the actual “work out” but afterwards….I am in LOVE with the way I feel! So today, I am sharing all the ways I make working out fun and what items I use to bribe myself into a good workout! (For direct shopping links, click the title of each item).

pillow sprayDeep Sleep Pillow Spray: First, get a good night’s sleep. Yes, the magic to working out is sleep. I totally get the excitement of getting the kids to sleep and staying up late with watching my favorite reality show or Netflix. For a week, I challenge you to go to bed after the kids are asleep & wake up an hour earlier. Trade that YOU time for an early morning workout. I get it, that sounds terrible…but do it for a week and see how you feel. I promise, you won’t regret it. So, how do you turn your brain off and actually fall asleep earlier? Enter,  this deep sleep pillow spray. The blend of lavender and wild chamomile is so relaxing. Two sprays on my pillow is just enough to do the trick. Rest and relaxation in a bottle!

leggingsFun Workout Attire: Wardrobe is everything. That even applies while sweating. Layout your workout clothes the night before, and make it fun! I am obsessed with these crazy, coffee cup leggings.  I also LOVE the Fabletics brand. Both are super reasonable, great quality, & long lasting. I have found when I invest into fitness (with clothes) I am more likely to actually workout. Maybe it’s all mental, but it works for me! Looking good = feeling good.

water bottleWater Bottle: Like your mom always said, “make sure you’re staying hydrated!” Or, maybe that was just my mom? Either way, I’ve come to learn that our mom is always right. Staying hydrated is so important, especially when you’re working out. Drinking water can be boring, but your water bottle doesn’t have to be. Find a cute water bottle that inspires you to keep drinking! I could write a whole blog post just on the benefits of water. Drink, drink, drink!

headbands

Headbands: You may be thinking this is an unnecessary accessory, but I am here to tell you that my watch and dry shampoo prove otherwise. Sweat + hair = not your friend. Headbands are your friend. I am obsessed with this brand  (headbands picture). They make headbands in a variety of sizes and patterns. So while headbands serve an important role, they also make working out a little more enjoyable!

body oilPost Workout Body Oil: During a workout, you sweat which takes moisture out of your body. After a workout, I love to use this Citrus Rosemary Body Oil to replenish moisture, especially in the Winter on troublesome areas. A little goes a long way, the scent is great, and I love that I don’t have to worry about any strange fragrances. It is on the pricier side, but it lasts a long time and has made a huge difference in areas where my skin is prone to drying out.

collagen

Collagen: I have started adding Collagen to my post workout shake and am loving the results. Collagen is of the most important nutrients needed to maintain a strong body and keep you in healing mode after a workout. You can add it to oatmeal, pancakes, water, soups, etc. I love the Vanilla flavor in my green smoothies each morning.

acv

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother: Last, but definitely not least…a daily dose of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother. These little “on the go” bottles are perfection because I can pack them in my bag and add them to tea or water once I get to work. I prefer 2 tablespoons a day mixed in hot tea with honey or added to a large glass of ice water. I have always struggled with digestive issues and this has been the best and most natural way of curing those issues. If I start to feel a cold coming on, I will double up on my daily dose to knock it out. Honestly, it works like a charm every single time. There are so many uses for ACV but getting your 2 tablespoons a day is the most important. One day soon, I’ll write an entire blog of uses…..and get ready because it’ll be a long one!

I hope some of these items inspire you to take care of YOU. All products are linked in underlined text. Comment below and share what helps you stick to a fitness routine! I would LOVE some more ideas. Also if you try any of the items, let me know how you like them!

Talk with you soon.

xoxo,

Brittany

P.S. BIG announcement about the Cold Coffee Grind Vlog coming…….
